Excursion to the River Cetina
If you have decided to stay for the excursion day, you are able to choose between two different trips:
- Rafting on river Cetina
- Field trip by minibus/boat - includes sightseeing of river Cetina, town Omi± and its surroundings
You can choose between the trips on the online registration form.
Both trips have the same price: 35 EUR
Rafting:
If you are adventurous enough, you'll spend between 3 and 4 hours on
the river, covering a distance of 9 km.
All equipment will be provided (including: oars, life jackets and helmets).
Included in your rafting ticket is also a transport from Omi± (little
town near Split) to the starting point (25 minutes by a minibus) as well
as an experienced local rafting skipper on every raft.
What should you bring with you?
You should wear shorts and a t-shirt or swimming suits, sandals or old
trainers.
Don't forget to bring a spare set of clothes to change into as you will
get wet rafting!!! The river can still be cold in this time of the year,
but then you'll be provided with additional equipment to wear.
During the rafting trip, you will be able to have several short swimming
breaks. If you are
interested, there are great spots to jump from the rocks into the river.
There is also a
very nice small waterfall with a cave behind it and you can raft through
the cave if you wish. All those details can be arranged with a skipper.
Field trip:
The trip will start with a guided tour through the cave Vranjače. You
will be told all the interesting facts about the cave. The inside of it
is arranged for visitors (light, stairs, hand-rails). The tour will last
45 minutes.
After visiting the cave a minibus will take you to a nearby historical
area called Poljička Republic, where you'll visit an interesting early
Christian church.
A few minutes from the church there is a view point at the top of the
Cetina canyon. From there you'll have a beautiful view on the river, the
town of Omi± and surrounding area and on the sea and the island of Brač
(see the picture at the end of this page! :).
From the view point you'll go to Omi± (15 minutes drive by minibus). There
we'll have an organized tour of the Omi± old town and the little (once
pirate) castle Mirabella in the heart of Omi± (entrance to Mirabella included).
From Omi± we'll take a small boat cruise, 6 km upstream the Cetina River,
to the rafting finish point. There we'll meet the rafters. The boat trip
will take about 30 minutes.
The activities described for both groups will take approximately the
same amount of time (about 4 hours).
In the end both groups will meet and have a lunch together. After the
lunch we'll return to Split.
